Children's Garden Project
Children' Garden
From Neal Mc Aloon:
I plan to spearhead a project built by the community for our children, we want to secure a safe fun child friendly area within our community gardens and we need access to some community funds to do so. The philosophy here is that it will be so much fun the kids will be asking the parents to bring them to the allotments. In time with involvement in greater garden projects and helping at their own plots hopefully they will become budding gardeners themselves. This in turn will help instill much needed resilience in our community. It will also let us parents tag team the childcare whilst getting some gardening done at our own plots.
I want to purchase fence posts and framing, some of which will need concreted in to support shade sails which also need to be purchased.
I plan to build a climbing frame with several different approaches to a platform with a slide decent. Marine ply and timber needed. I will try secure some climbing holds for one of the ascent routes.
If anyone has any macrocarpa or hard wood timber that would help, I plan to build a sand pit a bit like the one at Canyon brewery.
Dave has kindly donated a swing seat which we can build a frame for, this is large enough for a parent and kid to hang out on.
I have secured hard wood tables, one as a changing table the other smaller one a picnic table for the kids.
Wicker fencing is also needed for the perimeter, I have secured enough for one side.
A large lock box would be good.
Kelly has identified a BBQ that can be used in this area.
